LEGO is a classic from childhood that brings back fond memories of laying on the floor playing with a multi-colored masterpiece. For adults, it can still be a great method to develop mathematical and engineering skills while also unleashing your imagination.
For others that are in the game, the fun never ceases: The company’s Lego Ideas program gives fans the chance to transform their ideas into sets. Anyone can submit ideas and if it gets 10,000 votes from fellow Lego builders the company might consider making it a reality. That’s exactly what happened when Angus MacLane, who works as an animator, storyboard artist and director for Pixar created an LEGO version of WALL-E from the dystopian movie. The set is now available for sale, and it’s an exact replica of the adorable character.
The massive mech from Voltron: Defender of the Universe is yet another hit set that has been created by the Lego Ideas process. It’s made for advanced builders and is loaded with amazing features, including the pilot’s movable hands as well as delta wings that open and close, and an open nose.
Typically, sets are only available for a period of two to three years. They’re then replaced with a fresh version. This is a rare instance: a design site created by brothers Marc and Nick Parsons, based on the Back to the Future tree house, was so a hit in 2022 when it was first introduced that it now enters its fourth year of being on shelves without any sign of slowing down.
